URBAN! (TAKE IT TO THE STREETS)

More on my favourite 'Urban' street art.
Use of bright energetic colours.
Waking up the city!

Youthful expression garnered from city streets
and disused public works provides ample
inspiration for graphic prints. Iconic tags,
geometric shapes and bold scale imagery
combine for allover patterns. Use airbrushing techniques
to soften edges and blend a variety of bright hues.

NAIVETY : SURF'S UP!!!!

Surf's Up comes into the topic of 'Naivety'.
This time focusing more on the 1950's beach
scenery and silouettes!
'Naivety' is one of the most playful
topics I can think of. Anything goes!

Surfing on the Hawaiian Islands coupled with
the Aloha spirit creates a reminiscent summer style.
Bold graphics employ silhouetted surfers
and stylized color palettes for an ambient effect.
Adding floral garlands and palm trees for an exotic 1950s finish.

NAIVETY : AIR FLIGHT

In my younger days I was so naive. I absolutely love the 'Naivety' topic
and will look more into this.

Retro advertising and airline corporate identities
recall the glamorous days of air travel.
From prim uniforms to branded luggage,
living the high life was an aspirational and luxurious
pursuit. Blend kitsch imagery like airplanes,
blocky fonts and graphic motifs to reinvent the
iconic Pan Am world.

LIGHT

I think it's great how you can create art from using light.
The designs featured concentrate on shape and symmetry.

STUDDED GYPSY

Bohemian characters revel in the freedom
of natural fibers and mismatched prints.
Metallic aspects toughen hippie styles, adding a
rock edge to nonchalant patterns.
Studs, chains and leather textures mix
with feathers and ethnic prints for a tough attitude.

Clothing with studs and rhinestones is very popular
right now. It's funny how fashion repeats itself and
how the gypsy culture is still popular!
Tatoos are also still a big thing which intertwined
with the gypsy culture. I'll be looking into this soon!

THE SWINGING 60'S (The Young Leaders Of Fashion)

Talent was a prerequisite to success in the 1960s.
For the first time ever in any fashion era,
the young became the leaders of fashion.
Shorter hemlines and an anything-goes attitude
allowed women to step forward in bold
hues and body-skimming outfits.
Abstract patterns based on nature or ethnic
motifs form the basis for prints that allude
to the exuberant attitude of the time.
I thing the bright neons are funky!
These colours are now back in fashion 50 years later.

FORGOTTEN LETTERS

Old correspondence and notes etched in ink reveal cryptic
messages and confessions in a highly decorative fashion.
Handwritten words are mixed with delicate
nature studies and faded paper to give the impression
of precious diaries that that have been
rediscovered after the writer has died.

Reminds me of someone I once knew..
